For the Love of a Horse

Horse Photography for Denver, Boulder & Beyond

Growing up riding backyard ponies, I learned that the bond between horse and rider is built on trust, patience, and understanding—qualities that guide my approach to equine photography. Over the years, I’ve had the honor of capturing countless horse-and-rider partnerships.

My goal is to create images that reflect the special connection you share with your horse, blending horse sense with artistic vision. Your horse’s comfort and safety will always be my top priority, ensuring a relaxed and enjoyable experience for both of you.

The tagline “For the Love of a Horse” is a tribute to the book by Patricia Leitch, a story that has stayed with me since childhood. It’s a reminder of how deeply horses can shape our lives—and how their stories deserve to be remembered forever.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do the photoshoots take place?

We can shoot at your barn, a favorite trail, or a location you feel connected to, or I can suggest scenic spots across Colorado based on your preferences.

What do I need to prepare for the session?

Make sure your horse is groomed and ready for the shoot. I recommend grooming to a competition standard whenever possible. If your horse will be in a bridle it’s helpful to remove the reins ahead of time and attach a lead rope to the bit, which I will later edit out. It’s also helpful to bring a friend along for an extra set of hands if feasible.

How long do photoshoots typically last?

Black background sessions typically last between 30-45 minutes. While horse and rider session generally last about an hour. We’ll be sure take breaks as needed to keep your horse comfortable.

Can I include my dog in the session?

Of course! If you’d like to include your dog, I’m happy to capture those moments as well. Just let me know beforehand so we can plan accordingly.

Do you offer prints or products?

Yes! I offer a variety of high-quality prints, canvases, and albums that beautifully showcase your horse’s portraits. These are all available to directly purchase right from your proofing gallery after your session. No sales appointment necessary!

What happens if the weather doesn’t cooperate?

If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we can either reschedule or move to an indoor location (depending on feasibility). I’ll work with you to ensure we get the best possible images, no matter the conditions.
