Ruby's Chautauqua Sunrise Session
Do you have a black dog and are wondering if it’s even possible to get good (let alone amazing) photos of them? You’re not alone. As a pet photographer, one of the most common questions I get is "Can you photograph my black dog?" and I'm here to tell you a big, enthusiastic “YES!” 😁
Just take it from Ruby, a 5 month old Estrela Mountain dog puppy with a striking black brindle coat that her parents were worried wouldn't photograph well. One of the keys to photographing dogs with black fur is making use of plentiful, even light. So we found the perfect solution by scheduling a sunrise session at beautiful Chautauqua in Boulder. The soft morning light streaming in from the east created a perfect, evenly lit environment for Ruby and the scenic Flatirons served as the dramatic backdrop for her photos.
Not only is Chautauqua Park a great spot for photographs, but it's also a fantastic place to hike with your pup. With various trails for all skill levels, and the Chautauqua Trail being one of the most popular, you'll be able to enjoy the great outdoors and bond with your furry companion. Just keep in mind, it can get pretty crowded, so I always recommend booking an early morning sunrise session for a more secluded experience. Trust me, the results will be worth it!
